It NEVER Fails...

We look forward to a vacation, planning, packing, all the anticipation leading up to it, and what happens...someone gets sick just before we leave! This time, it's Nalley and I both. I know it's bronchitis, I've had it so many times, I know the FIRST signs. If left untreated, I usually have to go on steroids because my asthma flares up every time.

I can deal with it myself, but as every mom knows, it is almost more than I can handle to see my sweet little baby so congested and coughing. She's all sneezy too...poor thing! We both have appointments with the Dr. this afternoon. We leave in 3 days for Maui for 12 days. It's a 9 hour flight and with no illness, it would be tough on a 9 month old. We're praying for health and good humor for the trip.

I'm so stinkin' excited to get away from the coldest place on earth, Winnipeg, Manitoba. It has been SUCH a transition to go from warm Marietta, GA where the flowers are already blooming, to the harsh winters (that last FOREVER) of Canada. It's been 3.5 years already, and I don't think I'll ever adjust. This is the worst part of the year in my opinion, the snow has been on the ground for MONTHS and it doesn't seem like it will ever go away. Actually, it IS melting right now, which gives way to other annoying Winnipeg occurances...pot holes, and slush. The slush is so gross and messy and the potholes wreck your vehicle. We washed our truck on Saturday and you'd never know it today. Anyway, that's life in the Canadian Praires. Such a huge departure from the life I knew. If I didn't love my sweet husband so much....

Easter Dresses

How cute! My little sweeties in their Easter Dresses. I remember getting a new Easter Dress every year and how excited I was to put it on Easter morning and parade to church feeling like a million bucks! I think I feel even more excited about my girls wearing theirs! My mom and dad have made it a tradition to buy Maybel her Easter outfit each year since since Shayne and I have been married. My mom bought these matching dresses for both Nalley & Maybel this year and oh, how cute they looked!

It has been so difficult living 1500 miles from my parents and holidays are especially hard. I wish that they were here to enjoy our Easter feast of ham, scalloped potatoes, salad, fresh baked bread, baked turkey with pears...mmm...it was so good. To top it all off, my wonderful mother-in-law, Wendy, always finishes with the best baked desserts. We had cute little cupcakes and cookies and an apple pie to boot!

I had so much fun with the girls and Shayne, can't wait to scrapbook all my memories of the week's adventures, dying eggs, our dinner, Easter morning and the egg hunt...savor the moments while they're young!

My First Blog

Wow, my very first blog…who would have thunk it? Not that I’m not at least somewhat proficient on the computer, it’s just that I don’t have much time these days, with an 8 month old and all.

I do find that my time to myself is enjoyed on the computer and doing crafty projects. Apart from my business, Magnolia Designs, where I hand-paint custom pottery, I enjoy sewing, cooking and baking, and scrapbooking, both digital and traditional.

My latest project has been a simple quilt for my daughter Nalley’s first birthday at the end of June. I have enjoyed it and it has gone rather quickly. She’s been a doll just sitting and playing while I talk to her about her “surprise” quilt I’m making for her birthday (right in front of her)! I guess this will be the last year that I get to shop and work right in front of her for what are supposed to be surprises! Oh well…

I do need to get back to the laundry, what I like to call Mount Murray, when it gets to the point it is now…piled high, just calling to me, wait that’s my husband complaining that he has no more clean undies or socks. Anywho, I must return and conquer Mount Murray. Toodles for now…I’ll blog again soon…
